TO HONOUR THE FEMININE AT CHRISTMAS

Perhaps you’ve always felt there is more to Mary’s story than we were told...

How did she really conceive Jesus? And what might we discover if we looked beneath the Madonna cradling her infant?

For centuries, Mary has been revered, idealised, sanitised and placed upon a pedestal. The mainstream does not talk about about her body, her experience, her choices, her strength, her humanity.

What if we could reclaim Mary as a whole woman, and in doing so honour and reclaim something for all women?

And there is something so poignant in that when we consider how motherhood is treated in our own culture: the enormous physical, emotional and spiritual labour of bringing life into the world, and the ways in which mothers themselves can disappear behind the needs and achievements of their children.

And this is especially true at Christmas. We are usually the ones planning the meals, buying the presents, organising the gatherings, decorating the tree, and making sure memories are created.

And then, when Christmas arrives, who gets the credit?

Father Christmas, of course.

He gets the songs, the milk and cookies and the credit on Christmas morning.

It's funny, in a way. But it's also a little too close to the truth.

Because this is about a much older story.

A story in which women's labour is expected, but rarely acknowledged. In which mothers are celebrated in theory but taken for granted in practice.

In which women are praised for their selflessness, whilst their own needs, desires and identities are quietly pushed aside.

And perhaps we can begin to see this pattern reflected in the way Mary's story has been sidelined, too.

AN INVITATION TO REMEMBER HER

Hail Mary,

Hail the Woman

Hail Mary is an invitation to pause amongst the busyness of December, whether you join live or create sacred space afterwards.

We'll be exploring Mary's story, so much of which is not spoken about in the mainstream. We'll connect with the woman Mary, beyond the Virgin label.

We'll create space to to remember the women who came before us, and to acknowledge the many different ways motherhood lives within our stories.

For some, that means celebrating a mother who loved us, nurtured us and gave us the foundations from which to grow.

For others, it means making peace with a relationship that was difficult, painful or absent. Perhaps your mother wasn't able to give you what you needed. Perhaps you've had to create distance to protect yourself. Perhaps the relationship is complicated by grief, anger, longing or things left unsaid.

For some, this gathering may bring up the grief of losing a mother, or the grief of never having had the relationship they needed.

For others, there may be the tender ache of having wanted children but never becoming a mother, or the quiet certainty of having chosen a different path altogether.

All of these experiences and their complexity belong here.

And perhaps, through the story of Mary, we can explore something bigger than motherhood itself, the feminine capacity to create.

the EXPERIENCE

Hail Mary

Teaching and Storytelling

We'll explore the the story of Mary, the woman, mother, and the life behind the traditional iconic virgin imagery.

How did she conceive Jesus?

What was her birth story beyond the nativity?

Honour The Womb

We'll drop into an energetic womb healing, using the Maryam lineage techniques.

Mary's body is central to the Nativity, yet the physical reality of her pregnancy and birth is rarely the focus of our Christmas celebrations. We celebrate the child who arrived, but seldom pause to honour the body that carried him.

This offers an opportunity to return to that forgotten part of the story: to honour the feminine body not simply for what it produces, but for its own inherent dignity, wisdom and humanity. This practice is suitable for all women, whether or not you have a physical womb.

We will connect with the cosmic womb, the universal source of creation, and the sacred womb chakra as an energetic centre of feminine wisdom, creativity and transformation.

Ritual

We'll look beyond the modern idea of the feminine and into its deeper, wilder, more transformative nature.

Reflection and Remembrance

A candlelit ritual to honour Mary and all mothers, past and present. Space for prayer, contemplation and remembrance.

hail mary GUIDE

hey love, I'm REBECCA

For years, I searched for something I couldn't quite name. My journey took me through yoga, astrology, the mysteries of the psyche and the ancient traditions that have shaped our understanding of the sacred.

But the deeper I went, the more I found myself drawn to the women whose stories had been forgotten, the mothers whose contributions had been overlooked, and the feminine wisdom that had been hidden beneath centuries of religious doctrine and cultural expectation.

And at Christmas, this feels particularly poignant. We celebrate the birth of Jesus, yet how often do we truly honour Mary? The woman who carried him, birthed him, nurtured him and stood beside him through his suffering.

What does it mean to reclaim her story?

To look beyond the icon and remember the woman, the mother, the human being?

Hail Mary is born from these questions. It is an invitation to gather, to explore Mary's story through a different lens, to honour the mothers who came before us, and to create space for our own complex and deeply personal relationships with motherhood, the feminine and the sacred.

A moment to pause amidst the busyness of Christmas, to remember the woman behind the miracle, and to honour the feminine within us all.
